More space.
Less stress.

An extension is one of the biggest investments you'll make in your home. Barry and Ben have managed dozens of them across Weston-super-Mare, Bristol and North Somerset — from modest single-storey rear extensions to large wraparound builds that completely transform a property.

We handle every trade ourselves — groundwork, brickwork, roofing, plastering, electrics and plumbing. No juggling different contractors, no miscommunication. One team, one point of contact, from the first brick to the final finish.

Types of Extension

What we
build

Single-Storey Extension

The most common extension — added to the rear or side of the property to create a larger kitchen, dining room or living space. Often includes bi-fold or sliding doors opening onto the garden. We handle everything from planning through to plastering.

Double-Storey Extension

Maximise your investment by adding two floors at once — typically a larger kitchen or living space downstairs and an additional bedroom or bathroom above. Significantly better value per square metre than two separate builds.

Wraparound Extension

Combines a rear and side return extension into one L-shaped space — creating a dramatic, open-plan ground floor. A popular choice for terraced and semi-detached properties where the side alley is currently wasted space.

Garage Conversion

Turn your unused garage into a bedroom, home office, utility room or playroom. Usually the most cost-effective way to add usable floor space — no foundations or new roofing required. Most fall under Permitted Development.

Annexe & New Build

Self-contained annexes for family members, rental income or a home office. We also take on new builds and self-build projects — managing the full build from groundwork and foundations right through to handover.

Structural Alterations

RSJ installation to knock through walls and open up your ground floor. We handle structural calculations, building regulations and the full build — from steel installation through to plastered, finished walls.

Common Questions

Extension
FAQs

Do I need planning permission for an extension?
Many single-storey rear extensions fall under Permitted Development and don't require formal planning permission, as long as they meet certain size limits. Double-storey extensions and larger single-storey builds usually require planning permission. We'll advise you at the survey stage and manage any applications needed.
How long does a house extension take?
A single-storey extension typically takes 8–14 weeks from groundworks to final finish. A double-storey will usually take 12–20 weeks. We'll give you a realistic programme in your quote and keep you updated throughout the build.
How much does an extension cost in Weston-super-Mare?
Costs depend heavily on size, specification and finish. As a rough guide, a single-storey rear extension starts from around £30,000–£50,000. Double-storey extensions typically start from £60,000 upwards. We provide full fixed-price quotes after surveying your property.
Will I need to move out during the build?
In most cases, no. We work to minimise disruption and keep your home liveable throughout. There may be periods where a doorway is temporarily blocked or dust is more prevalent, but we'll always plan around you and give you plenty of notice for anything disruptive.
Do you handle building regulations?
Yes — all extensions require building regulations approval regardless of whether planning permission is needed. We manage the building control process, arrange inspections at each stage and ensure your extension is signed off correctly.
